Former Mr. Football, current NFL star honored for philanthropy

Walter Pyton FloridaDairy Farmers

Anquan Boldin, the 1998 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Football was named the 2015 Walter Payton Man of the Year at this year’s NFL Honors ceremony. The award recognizes players who have significantly and positively impacted their community.

Before becoming a NFL champion and three-time Pro Bowler, the 13-year veteran out of Pahokee was named the top high school football player in the state of Florida. During his Mr. Football award-winning senior year, Bolden passed for more than 2,400 yards and 36 touchdowns while rushing for over 1,400 yards and 20 scores.

Boldin’s work in the community provides a lasting example of how players can be difference-makers off the field. Among his many outreach endeavors, he established the Anquan Bolden Foundation in 2004, which works to expand the educational and life opportunities of underprivileged children.

The foundation offers a wide range of programs, including a summer enrichment program and seasonal services like Thanksgiving food drives and holiday shopping sprees. In 2015, the program awarded four $10,000 scholarships to high school seniors from the Palm Beach County and San Francisco Bay areas.

Boldin's philanthropic efforts have surely touched and positively affected the lives of many. Congratulations to Anquan, and thanks for being an impact player both on and off the field!

We are so proud to say that you are a Florida Dairy Farmers High School Sports Awards winner!
